A great deal of talk has been going around lately in regards the route of the Washington Highway being changed, but on inquiry from proper authority it is found there is nothing to the report. Colonel Thatcher is well pleased with the way the people of Charles Mix county have taken hold of the matter, and also with the condition in which they have put the roads.

This coupled with the fact that the road as laid out now is the shortest and best route makes it an assured fact. And again, there is much work promised on the road this year, that when completed will put the road in this section in ideal shape.
