Mr. Peterson, manager for the Norbeck well drilling company arrived here Saturday with his machinery and is now busily engaged in putting down the tubular well for the water works.

C. B. Randall of Galva, Iowa arrived here last Friday evening. Mr. Randall owns 240 acres of fine land two miles north of town and will make extensive improvements thereon this summer.

The Belle of Andes mades its first excursion up the lake last Sunday. The management informs us that the boat will make regular trips every Sunday, leaving the dock at 2:30 p. m. sharp.

Frank Blankenhagen, who recently purchased the Wolfe farm one mile north of town, has commenced the erection of a house and suitable farm buildings thereon and will soon move his family here.

Wheat jumped to a dollar a bushel on Chicago board of trade Monday on the strength of reports of unfavorable weather, green bugs, etc., in the wheat growing districts.

The number of wild ducks--mostly of the Tiel​ variety--which are remaining on the lake this season insures good fall shooting. These ducks nest here and raise their young and if the unlawful shooting of them can be stopped there will be thousands of them here this fall.
